...weekly word

Exodus 34:29-33 "When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God. Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the sin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. But Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and moses talked with them. Afterward all the people of Israel came near, and he commanded them all that the Lord had spoken with him on Mount Sinai. And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face."

Last night was an amazing night! The Holy Spirit was definitely present and moving in our midst. I hope that you all experienced the same thing that I did. Therefore with regards to last night, I decided to post this Scripture.

Many of you have heard of the term "AFTERGLOW", but not many knows where it comes from. An "AFTERGLOW" is the time in worship when you come before the Lord and you worship, talk, thank Him. It is a time when you come face to face with God honestly opening yourself up to Him and exposing that which is in you. This time is typically done after the message with the intent to respond to the Word of God and come into His presence. And the root of this word comes from this Scripture above (Ex. 34).

When Moses went up on Mount Sinai his second time to rewrite the law He came face to face with God. And as a result of that interaction his face started to glow. It shone to all that was around him and they were a little afraid of it. Could you imagine looking at someone and seeing them shining? That would be insane. That would be something irrational and totally confusing. Well, the reality is that each and everyone of us shines forth to the world. Jesus said that we are the Lights of the World and we shine forth. And it is a result of being face to face with God. When we are face to face with Him we shine even more because we are refreshed and strengthened.

So I encourage you all, let this be something that you strive for. Strive to shine forth Jesus to all who you come in contact with. Friends, family, co-workers, dormmates, everyone. Don't be afraid either. I have news for you, if you are living FULLY for Jesus, they already see the light shine forth in your life. MAY YOU ALWAYS LIVE IN THE AFTERGLOW!
