...paradox

This is the NEW blog/website (for the time being because it is free and blogging is cool!) for the college ministry at Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara, "Paradox".  This blog is designed with an emphasis on college students.  My heart is for this to be where students can get connected, challenged, and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. I pray that this blog can touch lives and bring students closer to their Savior.

If you are a bit foggy about what is "Paradox" and what does it mean, let me break it down for you.

The definition of the word "Paradox" is this: a seemingly false statement, but upon further investigation and explanation it proves itself to be true.  This is the basis of Christianity.  To many (even to me sometimes) it can seem as though Christianity is full of false statements, or contradictions.  However, when you are to really look at what the Bible is saying, you realize it is true.  The most basic example is this verse (which is also our theme verse for the ministry), Matthew 10:39 "Whoever seeks to find his life will lose it, however, he who loses his life for My sake will find it."  At first glance, it seems false, but it is probably the most true statement known to man.  If we, as people are to "seek to find our life", we will be going about it on our own and ultimately finding loss and emptiness.  But if we were to lose our lives for Christ's sake, we find life, and that is life abundantly.

Jesus Christ said that He was the way to eternal life. Through His sacrifice on the cross will we ever be able to have true abundant life.  When we do it our way, we fail, when we lose it for Him, we succeed.

That is our heart here, to be servants of the Most High God and to walk a life of sacrifice and obedience to Him, because in the end, that is where the peace, joy, love, grace, and life stem from.
